Wealth is Secreted not Acquired
Sun, 12, May, 2024

Beloved in Christ, In a world captivated by materialism and the pursuit of riches, let us uncover the divine truth that true wealth is not merely acquired but secreted within the depths of a surrendered heart and a life lived in alignment with God's kingdom principles.

In Matthew 6:19-21, our Lord Jesus Christ imparts a timeless revelation concerning the nature of true wealth: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Herein lies the secret of true wealth: investing in the eternal treasures of God's kingdom, which neither rust nor decay can diminish.

Furthermore, in Proverbs 23:4-5, we are cautioned against the deceptive allure of earthly riches: "Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle." True wealth, therefore, transcends the ephemeral trappings of worldly success, for it is rooted in the unshakeable foundation of God's enduring love and provision.

In 1 Timothy 6:17-19, the Apostle Paul provides invaluable counsel to the wealthy: "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." True wealth, therefore, is manifested not in accumulation but in generosity and stewardship of God's blessings.

Moreover, in Luke 12:15, our Lord issues a solemn warning against the insatiable pursuit of wealth: "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions." Let us, therefore, guard our hearts against the allure of materialism, recognizing that true abundance is found in communion with our Heavenly Father.

In conclusion, let us fix our gaze upon the eternal riches of God's kingdom, investing our time, talents, and treasures in endeavors that yield heavenly dividends. For true wealth is not acquired through earthly striving but secreted within the surrendered heart of one who walks in obedience to God's will.

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you,
